Just so at any point in time they can look up at him to make sure they are keeping up with the tempo. Sometimes, conductors can cue certain people to come in at any time.

I have Asperger Syndrome and I must say: brilliant performance, you lot have talent. :) Also, ignore the ignorant idiots who flame you. They lack a brain and heart, and have absolutely no idea what they're talking about at all. Here's a tip for you brainless morons out there who flame those who are different - creativity is a form of intelligence, and I'm sure these fine musicians have lots of intelligence. actually i take back what i said. I think there is just some very minor sound sync issues and that player is what i call a lackadaisical percussionist. They are the type that enjoys being totally relaxed while player. The sound quality isn't great but i think i can recognize his sound now.

the marimba player behind the lead marimba looks like he isn't playing anything at all. I can't pick his sound out and he seems to be playing with no rhythm at all.

This is...AWESOME!!!!! The talent these kids have! I knew an autistic girl, she was very intelligent and could write stories extremely well. She was great at drawing too.
